(Contributed by Celia Lee Barry Photo provided by Wong) On November 4th, the Republican Party defeated the Democratic Party and won the majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. At the Republican election night celebration party, many Republican congressional representatives, Arizona senators, representatives and candidates for important state government positions took the stage to express their expectations for future voters and their heavy responsibilities.
The climax of the celebration party was undoubtedly the new governor of Arizona – Doug Ducey, with the current governor Jan Brewer and the new governor’s wife Mrs. Angela. After Ducey's introduction, Doug Ducey delivered a victory speech amid cheers from supporters. He said: "After I am elected, I will be committed to making Arizona a land of opportunity;" and said: "I will ensure that Arizona does not become a high-tax state and avoid random government spending." He also said: "I will be a governor who serves all people, just like the promises and vision of my campaign- Gather public opinions and unite the people."

Doug Ducey is not only a successful entrepreneur (who established the "Cold Stone" Cold Stone Creamery ice cream kingdom), but also an outstanding current state treasurer. The Chinese community held a grand fundraising breakfast to support Doug Ducey. Chinese media introduced Doug Ducey’s background information and his outstanding achievements in politics over the years. His election is a great honor for the Chinese supporters who helped raise funds! Ducey will take office in January next year. He will use practical actions to prove that our Chinese community is the right choice.
