Under the leadership of successive school boards and school committees, and with the unremitting efforts of teachers and students, parents and many volunteers, Modern Chinese School has gone through a fruitful 19 years and successfully entered a promising 20th year. Today, Modern Chinese School has become the center of Chinese teaching, Chinese culture dissemination, and Chinese community activities in Phoenix. The school has now formed its own unique school-running model, diversified cultural communication methods, and multi-functional and distinctive community activities.
Modern Chinese School has strong teaching staff, complete curriculum design and diversified teaching methods, which fully meets the special needs of overseas Chinese school-age children in Phoenix to learn Chinese. Most of the Chinese teachers in the school have a bachelor's degree or above, and many teachers hold Arizona primary and secondary education qualification certificates.
In order to explore and try different styles of Chinese teaching, Modern Chinese School has adopted Chinese teaching materials from Ma Liping and Jinan University respectively, and provides bilingual classes, striving to allow parents and students to flexibly choose different teaching materials and courses to meet the learning needs of different students. In line with the purpose of providing all-round educational services, the school not only offers various Chinese courses, but also offers mathematics courses for various grades in elementary school, junior high school and high school. The setting of these courses has greatly met the special needs of the local Chinese community in mathematics and science education, and has now become an important supplement to students' basic mathematics education in regular schools. Various other elective courses, from Chinese children's songs to AP courses in various subjects, all meet the learning requirements of students at all levels to the greatest extent.
Modern Chinese School attaches great importance to the exchange and cooperation of Chinese teaching experience. The school actively encourages its teachers to participate in exchanges of Chinese teaching in North America, actively organizes various teacher training and lectures on Chinese teaching innovation, encourages Chinese teachers to strive to teach Chinese in an entertaining way, and focuses on cultivating students' interest and initiative in learning Chinese. The school advocates and encourages teachers to proactively contact, communicate and cooperate closely with parents so that the school's Chinese teaching methods and teaching effects can be continuously improved and improved.
Spreading Chinese culture and serving community needs is another outstanding feature of modern Chinese schools. The school holds large-scale activities every year to celebrate the Spring Festival, a traditional Chinese festival. Activities such as guessing lantern riddles, dancing the dragon, and handing out red envelopes greatly stimulate the children's interest in learning and understanding Chinese culture. Modern Chinese School is also one of the most enthusiastic participants in the annual China Week in Phoenix. The exhibited calligraphy, handicrafts, etc. attract a large number of community residents every year, making a visible contribution to promoting community diversity and promoting Chinese culture and art.
Modern Chinese School currently has nearly 600 registered students. Parents from 350 families take their children to the Chinese school every Saturday. It is the largest Chinese school in Alberta.
In order to adapt to the reality that hundreds of parents gather in Chinese schools every week, successive school committees and boards of directors have taken the initiative to take active and effective measures to organize various activities that are suitable for a large number of parents with different backgrounds. Various adult Tai Chi training classes, adult vocal music education training classes, yoga, Chinese martial arts, various types of children's dance, painting art training classes and other activities that reflect Chinese cultural characteristics came into being under such a large background. These activities meet the needs of students and parents to a certain extent, enrich their spare time life, and have become an important part of the local Chinese community activities in Phoenix. Therefore, modern Chinese schools have also become centers for spreading Chinese culture and platforms for exchanges between Chinese and overseas Chinese in the community.
>Alberta Modern Chinese School has ushered in its 20th year of teaching Chinese, spreading Chinese culture, and actively participating in Chinese community activities.
