Li Jian, President of the Alberta Chinese Federation, held talks with Daniel Hoyle, Deputy Director of the International Students and Scholars Center at ASU (Contributed by UCAA) News: Li Jian, President of the Chinese Federation of Alberta (UCAA), was invited to the Alberta State University (ASU) for a nearly hour-long meeting with Daniel Hoyle, Deputy Director of the International Students and Scholars Center. The meeting was held on June 17, 2016 at ASU. The topic of the talks centered around the recent beatings of overseas Chinese students. Mr. Hoyle, the deputy director, further introduced the development of the incident and the difficulties and problems encountered by the student. The talks also touched upon the recent series of unfortunate incidents involving Chinese students, such as drownings, shootings, and this time, personal attacks. Mr. Hoyle, the deputy director, expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Alberta Hualian to help Chinese students, and conveyed the deep concern of the center director Mr. Singh about this incident. At the same time, we also invited the Hualien Association of Alberta and the ASU International Students and Scholars Center to have more in-depth talks on this incident.
