On October 28, the Arizona Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Arizona State University's Carey School of Business jointly held a discussion on what it means to do business in China during China's economic downturn.
> Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Wu Zhaowen delivered a speech
At 6 p.m., the symposium officially started. Nearly a hundred friends from ASU Carey Business School and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce participated in the discussion. Lawyer Wu Zhaowen, president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, introduced the history of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. The Chinese Chamber of Commerce is the earliest Chinese chamber of commerce in Arizona with a history of nearly 80 years. Paying attention to Sino-US business exchanges, we hold business seminars in cooperation with Carey Business School every year. The event was moderated by Dr. William Brashears, Director of Arizona Global Initiatives. The three speakers this time are Professor Sheldon Simon, Director of the Department of Political Science at Arizona State University, and George Tsai, the founder of DS International Group who has been doing business in China for many years. and Angela Zhao, who studied and worked in the United States and went to work in China.
Professor Sheldon Simon of Arizona State University does research on Asian politics. He suggested that it is important for China to maintain good relations with its neighboring countries so as to ensure stable economic and political development.
George Tsai, who has run factories in China for many years, said that many companies in China have closed down in recent years, and the labor shortage has become the biggest problem. A large number of productive enterprises have moved outside China. He also gave some suggestions to overseas students. If they want to return to China for development, don’t compare their salary and benefits with those in the United States. There will be a big gap. The most important thing is what you can learn from the position you choose.
Angela Zhao, who studied and worked in the United States and later returned to China to work, told many short stories about her first return to work in China. He used to work at Alibaba and is now engaged in overseas education. In terms of children's education, she said she sees more opportunities in China. Because Chinese people attach great importance to their children's education, it is most important to promote online education in China in the future to allow more children in underdeveloped areas to see the outside world and be exposed to outside information.
The lecture ended with questions raised by the guests present, and the atmosphere was quite warm. The next chamber of commerce event will be more exciting and will provide a platform for more local business owners to communicate.
