On June 15, the case of Jiang Yue, a Chinese student at Arizona State University, was killed in a car accident. The verdict was heard in the Phoenix Superior Court. The judge accepted that the suspect Holly Davis was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison. This was also the plea agreement reached by the defendant and prosecutors in February this year, changing the initial sentence of first-degree murder to the maximum sentence of second-degree murder.
On January 16, 2016, Jiang Yue was rear-ended by a suspect while driving on the road. The suspect got out of the car and fired several shots into the car at close range. Jiang Yue died due to excessive injuries and rescue efforts failed.
