The Sino-US Cultural Forum, National Day Reception and Dance will be held grandly at ASU on September 23 (Contributed by the Alberta Hualian) Sino-US Cultural Forum, National Day Reception and Mid-Autumn Festival Dance will be held grandly at ASU on September 23 The 6th "Phoenix Night" celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the Mid-Autumn Festival will be held grandly at Arizona State University on September 23, 2012. In order to prepare for this event, Fei Jian, president of the Overseas Chinese Federation of Alberta (Alberta Overseas Chinese Federation), hosted the second preparatory meeting on September 9. Fei Jian was reporting on the preparations for the activities. During the meeting, the person in charge of each activity reported on the preparations for various tasks to the participants. First, President Fei Jian reported to everyone the latest progress of this series of activities, as well as the details of the preparation and implementation of various activities. Xu Zhiping reported on the progress of the Sino-US Cultural Forum, Youth Photography Competition and Poster Competition, and invited three guests to give keynote speeches at the Sino-US Cultural Forum. President Fei Jian also explained the specific matters of the National Day reception to the participants, and introduced the implementation of performances by local artists Wei Yiping, Li Guohua, Jiang Tiebing and New Oriental Art School. This year, the Phoenix Chinese Senior Model Team will also perform a fashion show for everyone at the Double Celebration event. The members of these model teams are all elders who are over 60 years old. Here, let us say thank you to these old mothers and wish them success in their performances. Lin Xin and Lu Lihua reported to everyone the preparations for the Mid-Autumn Festival Ball, and called on everyone to actively invite relatives and friends to participate in the large-scale Mid-Autumn Ball held at the ASU Memorial Union Arizona Ballroom from 7 to 9 pm on September 23. The selection process for the Youth Photography Competition and Poster Competition is also in progress. The specific event schedule is as follows: 1) Sino-US Cultural Forum: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, ASU Memorial Union Turquoise Room 220. 2) National Day Reception: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, ASU Memorial Union Arizona Ballroom. 3) Youth Photography and Poster Contest Awards Ceremony: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, ASU Memorial Union Arizona Ballroom. 4) Mid-Autumn Festival Dance: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, ASU Memorial Union Arizona Ballroom. For specific matters, please contact Fei Jian (jian6351@yahoo.com), President of the Chinese Federation of Alberta, and the Confucius Institute at ASU (ci@asu.edu). Xu Zhiping, the director of the Confucius Institute, reported on the progress of the Sino-US Cultural Forum, Youth Photography Competition and Poster Competition. This large-scale "Phoenix Night" series of celebrations was co-sponsored by the Hualian Federation of Alberta and the Confucius Institute at Arizona State University, and co-organized by the Greater Phoenix Chinese Overseas Chinese Association. The organizers are all volunteers who work during the day and squeeze out their personal breaks in the evenings and weekends to participate in the preparations for the celebrations. During the preparation process, many social groups and volunteers received active participation and strong support. Our only wish is to work hard to successfully organize this series of activities to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, and provide a satisfactory answer to the community and overseas Chinese! Everyone is welcome to wear formal attire to attend the Sino-US Cultural Forum, National Day Reception and Mid-Autumn Festival Dance to be held on Sunday, September 23. The organizing committee also hopes that parents who bring their children to participate in the event will take care of their children during the event.
