Editor's note: Three-quarters (76%) of Chinese-American adults in the United States were not born in the United States, and 70% (69%) of Chinese-American adults are already American citizens. The "Rise of Asians" report released by the "Piyou Research Center" on the 19th based on data from the Population Bureau showed that more than half (52%) of Chinese adults are fluent in English, which is lower than the average Asian. Generally, 63% of Asian Americans are fluent in English. The average age of Chinese adults is 43, slightly higher than the 41 years of Asian adults, but lower than the national median age of 45. In terms of marital status, 59% of Chinese adults are married. And 51% of adult Americans are married. In terms of educational attainment, more than half (51%) of Chinese Americans aged 25 and above have obtained a bachelor's degree, which is much higher than the national figure of 28%, but not as good as that of Indians. The report shows that Indians have the highest income and education, with 70% of Indians over 25 having a bachelor's degree. Only about half of Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Filipino Americans have graduated from college. In terms of income, the annual income of Chinese Americans is 50,000 yuan, which is higher than the average annual income of Asians of 48,000 yuan and the overall average income of Americans of 40,000 yuan. In terms of family income, the median annual income of Chinese-American families is 65,050 yuan, which is slightly lower than the average Asian family income of 66,000 yuan, but higher than the median income of American families of 49,800 yuan. In terms of real estate, 62% of Chinese Americans own residences. In general, 58% of Asians own their own homes. And 65% of Americans own their own homes. Nearly half of Chinese adults (49%) live in the West. Asian Americans living in the West account for 47%. The American population in the West accounts for only 23% of the country's total. 14% of Chinese adults are in poverty, slightly higher than the 12% of Asians and 13% of the country. The 1860 California census listed the "Chinese" category for the first time. Other states followed a decade later. Affected by the Chinese Exclusion Act, most of the Chinese at that time were young single men who planned to return to China after working for a few years.
