The 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Arizona Chinese Chamber of Commerce 2014 and the 2014 Spring Banquet were grandly held on April 5 at Luk Fook Restaurant. Nearly 400 guests from Arizona's political and business circles attended the event. Secretary of State Ken Bennett, Chinese-American State Senator Kimberly Yee, Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane, former Chinese-American Representative Huang Shijun, senior overseas Chinese leader Yu Wenjin, Chinese-American Justice Zhou Yading, etc. all attended the banquet.
Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Wu Zhaowen
Executive Committee
Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Wu Zhaowen delivered a welcome speech for the dinner and reviewed the activities organized by the Chamber of Commerce in 2013, such as the popular immigration lectures, online markets, and new markets brought about by social media. This year is the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. A video introducing Chinese small business owners growing up in Arizona became the highlight of the event. This video was produced by the Chamber of Commerce itself. Around 1930, when the Chinese small economy developed and prospered, there were about 60 retail stores owned by Chinese. Retail stores, restaurants, and laundries are the main businesses of Chinese families. Chinese people have a place in the business circle because of their intelligence, hard work and hard work. The Chinese Chamber of Commerce was also founded at that time. It is composed of Henry Ong, Sr., Wing F. Ong, Ong Huang Yen, Ernest Yee, Wing Dong, Harry Yen, Henry Gong and George J.Q.Ong, and has developed to this day. At that time, some laws were required to close all Chinese retail stores. The Chamber of Commerce lobbied the Legislative Yuan and eventually won, allowing Chinese small businesses to remain. Therefore, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce has become a very important organization in Arizona. At the same time, this film is also a microcosm of the struggle of generations of Chinese immigrants in Arizona.
Family photos of scholarship recipients
Today, the Arizona Chinese Chamber of Commerce still adheres to the purpose of providing resources, knowledge, and services to Chinese small businesses. At the spring banquet, the Chamber of Commerce prepared scholarships for the children of three small business owners, namely Philip Haslim, Dustin Ma, and Lindsay Wong. Various sponsors also provided great support for the event. TV sets, IPADs and gift certificates brought New Year greetings to the guests. I hope that in the new year, business owners will support each other, explore business opportunities, and grow together.
