(Central News Agency, Washington, 1st comprehensive foreign news report) More than half of Americans, most of whom are African-American and Hispanic people, believe that US President Trump is a racist. More than half think his policies have made life worse for Hispanics and Muslims, and nearly half think it has made life harder for African Americans.
According to a new poll conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, 57% of Americans believe that Trump’s policies are harmful to Muslims; 56% believe that they are harmful to Hispanics. 47% of the people, 3/4 of whom are African Americans, believe that Trump’s policies are harmful to African Americans.
The Associated Press reported that 57% of American adults believe Trump is a racist, including more than 8/10 African Americans, 3/4 Hispanics and nearly half of white people. 85% of Democrats believe Trump is racist, but only 21% of Republicans agree.
Poll results show that during Trump’s term as president, the United States was clearly divided on racial issues. Trump not only promised to build a wall on the US-Mexico border to prevent immigrants from illegally entering the United States, but also described African countries as "shitholes".
The White House did not immediately respond to the poll results. However, when Trump was asked at the beginning of this year that others thought he was a racist, he responded: "No, no. I am not a racist." He also told reporters: "I can tell you, I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed." (Translator: Ye Liwei/Verification: Lu Yingzi) 1070302
