The reporter learned from the Public Security Bureau of Fangchenggang City, Guangxi, that this morning (7th), a mass incident occurred in Dongxing City under the jurisdiction of Fangchenggang, resulting in 5 police officers being injured and 9 anti-smuggling police vehicles being damaged.

According to preliminary information from the Fangchenggang City Public Security Bureau, at about 8 a.m. on December 7, local time, the Dongxing Customs anti-smuggling police discovered a motorcycle suspected of loading smuggled goods while on duty. During the arrest, the motorcycle driver was slightly injured. The family members of the injured and about 1,000 people shopping for food in the market gathered to watch, thereby obstructing law enforcement officers from handling the scene. During this period, some people threw stones at law enforcement vehicles and personnel, causing minor injuries to 5 police officers and damage to 9 anti-smuggling police vehicles to varying degrees. The Fangchenggang City Public Security Bureau stated that law enforcement officers did not take any drastic action during the incident.

After receiving the report, the Fangchenggang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government organized Dongxing City and relevant departments of politics and law, public security, border defense, customs and other departments to set up a task force and dispatched more than 200 police officers to the scene to maintain order and advise the masses not to participate in smuggling activities.

At present, the injured have been sent to Dongxing People's Hospital for treatment, and the situation is under control.
