General Motors recalls 470,000 vehicles due to gearbox problems General Motors (General Motors) announced on the 21st that it is recalling nearly 474,000 vehicles of three brands to repair transmission problems that may cause the vehicles to slide unexpectedly. The recalled vehicles include Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura vehicles from model years 2007 to 2010, all with four-speed automatic transmissions. In addition to being sold in the United States, Canada and Mexico, these vehicles are also exported to other countries in small quantities. General Motors said that the transmission cables in some vehicles will break, causing the transmission to appear as if the gear is in the park position, but in fact it is still in gear. The company says the problem has caused four crashes but no injuries. But the federal government last year began investigating reports of seven crashes, one of which injured one person. When the car is repaired, a reinforcement device will be installed on the bottom end of the transmission cable, or a new cable will be replaced. The car owner will be notified when to go to the dealership for maintenance. The federal government investigated such problems at General Motors, and General Motors provided information to the government and discovered problems with the vehicle's transmission cables.
