The plasticizer crisis has affected Taiwan's bakery and cake industry, and consumer confidence has been hit hard again. As Taiwan's "plastic inspection" work continues, Taiwan's bakery and cake industry has also been affected by plasticizers. It coincides with the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which is supposed to be the peak sales season for the food industry, but Taiwanese consumer confidence has been hit hard again. According to Taiwan media reports, two companies involved in the plasticizer case, Yushen and Qianbin, are suspected of selling homemade jam to the bread and pastry baking industry. In addition, the latest investigation found that Yushen Spices Company, one of the "poison sources", had sold spices mixed with plasticizers to Taipei and Taichung cities for bakery operators to make bread. Relevant agencies in Taichung City investigated its downstream companies and found that Yushen has been supplying products to it for at least five years, with more than 120 downstream manufacturers throughout Taiwan. Investigators are currently working hard to send 16 types of fruit flavors and jams suspected of being adulterated with plastics for inspection, and are checking the manufacturer's list one by one to clarify the flow of the problematic products. It is understood that when contacted, Lai Junjie, the boss of Yushen Company, confessed that he had a "trade secret known to everyone in the industry", that is, not only beverages and health foods, but also baked goods such as bread and cakes are commonly mixed with clouding agents. As soon as this statement came out, public opinion immediately aroused, and Taiwan's baking industry also came forward to clarify. But no matter what the final survey result is, many consumers are now "fearful". Reporters found in some bakeries in Taipei's Xinyi District that the popular jam bread in the past was rarely seen. Many stores have put up posters offering huge profit discounts to restore consumer confidence. It’s graduation season now, and the graduation banquets and family banquets in major hotels in Taiwan are extremely lively. Under the shadow of plasticizers, restaurants will specifically indicate on the juice provided that it is freshly squeezed from fresh fruit. Some operators simply moved large juicers to the site to squeeze and drink immediately.
