Since highways are free during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day this year, Guangzhou people are encouraged to travel, resulting in a decline in the revenue of some department stores in Guangzhou city. However, the tourism industry earned nearly 8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13.07%. According to statistics from the Guangzhou Municipal Holiday Office, during this year's Double Festival, the operating income of Guangzhou's department store industry remained basically stable, with some declines. 12 major retail companies attracted 912 million yuan during the Golden Week, a year-on-year decrease of 8.86%. However, due to the implementation of the toll-free expressway policy this year, a large number of self-driving tourists came to Guangzhou. The sample survey results of the Guangzhou Municipal Tourism Bureau showed that 13.43% of tourists came to Guangzhou by self-driving. According to estimates, Guangzhou received 1.5928 million self-driving tourists during the entire Golden Week, 340,000 more than last year’s National Day Golden Week. Consumption during the long holiday showed a U-shaped trend. Many citizens stayed in the city during the Mid-Autumn Festival and their purchasing power was strong, allowing major merchants to make a good start during the double festival. However, the middle of the holiday is the peak time for citizens to travel. The purchasing power of local residents weakens, while the tourists from outside the city have a clear need to spend, supporting half of the retail consumption in the Pearl River Delta and becoming the main passenger flow in department stores. From October 6th to 7th, the people leaving the city began to return, once again significantly boosting consumption during the golden weekend. During the festival, citizens from surrounding cities and counties around Guangzhou drove or took the subway into Guangzhou City for shopping, once again setting off a boom in retail consumption. Judging from the license plates parked outside the Youyi Zhengjia store in the Tianhe business district, guests from out of town accounted for more than 60%, of which the majority came from Foshan, Nanhai, Shunde and other places, becoming the main force in retail consumption during the Double Festival. According to the Guangzhou Municipal Tourism Bureau, Guangzhou's 33 major tourist attractions (excluding commercial pedestrian streets) received 4.3637 million visitors during the long holiday, a year-on-year increase of 35.11%. The operating income was 163 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.77%, of which ticket revenue was 133 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.61%. Among them, Chimelong Tourist Resort, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, and Guangzhou Zoo experienced significant growth. The sample survey also showed that domestic tourists mainly came to Guangzhou during the National Day Golden Week; among domestic tourists, 64.84% were tourists from Guangdong Province. Among tourists from other provinces, the top five are from Hunan, Jiangxi, Hubei, Guangxi and Sichuan. The fixed-point observation statistics of the retail catering industry during the Golden Week of the Guangzhou Bureau of Statistics show that 15 catering companies (groups) achieved a cumulative operating income of 125 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.90%. Among them, Sanyuan McDonald's was the enterprise with the highest turnover among catering enterprises. Enterprises with larger increases include Nanhai Fishing Village, Maxim's Starbucks, etc.
