At around 5:30 that day, the Yangmingtan Bridge in Harbin, which had been opened to traffic for less than a year, broke, causing four large trucks to fall from the bridge. According to the fire department, 3 people have been killed and 5 injured.

It is understood that the Yangmingtan Bridge is currently the longest super-large cross-river bridge north of the Yangtze River in my country. It was opened to traffic on November 6, 2011. It starts from the intersection of the Third Ring Road and Shimao Avenue in Songbei District in the north, and crosses the Songhua River channel in the south to connect with the Third Ring Elevated Road. It has a total length of 15.42 kilometers, a bridge width of 41.5 meters, two-way eight lanes, and a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. It can meet the maximum traffic of 9,800 motor vehicles per hour during peak periods. (over)
