If you can "care for others", you can "win friendship". The Bodhisattva's Appearance I heard an elder tell a story: long ago, in a remote mountainous village, there lived a slightly famous carving master. Because of his good carving skills, the temple in a nearby village invited him to carve a "Bodhisattva image." However, to reach the village, one must cross the mountains and forests; however, this mountain is said to be "haunted". Some people who want to cross the mountain will be killed by an extremely terrifying female ghost if they remain in the mountainous area at night. Therefore, many relatives and friends urged the carver to wait until dawn the next day before setting off to avoid any unexpected events. However, the master was deeply afraid that if he left too late, he would miss the appointment time with others, so he thanked everyone for their kindness and went to the appointment alone. As we walked and walked, the sky gradually darkened, and the moon and stars came out. The master suddenly vaguely realized, Huh? Why is there a woman sitting on the roadside in front of her, her straw sandals are worn out, she seems very tired and embarrassed. The master then asked the woman if she needed help. When the master learned that the woman also wanted to cross the mountain to a neighboring village, he volunteered to carry her for a ride. In the moonlit night, the master carried her on his back and stopped to rest until his back was dripping with sweat. At this time, the woman asked the master: "Aren't you afraid of the legendary female ghost? Why don't you hurry up and delay for me?" "I want to rush!" The master replied: "But if I leave you alone in the mountainous area, what if you are in danger? I will carry you on my back. Although I am tired, at least there is someone to look after me and we can help each other!" In the bright moonlight, the master saw a large piece of wood next to him, so he took out the chisel tool he carried with him and looked at the woman, carving out "a human figure" one by one with an axe. "Master, what are you carving?" "I'm carving a statue of Bodhisattva!" The master said happily: "I think your appearance is very kind and resembles a Bodhisattva, so I will carve a Bodhisattva according to your appearance!" When the woman sitting aside heard this, she burst into tears because she was the legendary "terrible female ghost." Many years ago, when she was climbing over the mountains alone with her daughter, she encountered a group of bandits, but she was unable to resist. In addition to being raped, her daughter was also killed. In grief, she jumped down the valley and turned into a "ghost" who killed passers-by at night. However, this "hateful" woman never expected that someone would say that she "looks very kind and like a Bodhisattva"! In an instant, the woman suddenly turned into a ray of light and disappeared into the moonlit valley. The next day, when the master arrived in the neighboring village, everyone was surprised that he could cross the mountain alive in the middle of the night. From that day on, no night traveler ever met the legendary "female ghost" again. I like a saying that is a bit like an advertisement: "When you clench your fists, you seem to have caught a lot of things, but in fact you haven't even caught the air! When you open your arms, it seems that your hands are empty, but the whole world is in the palm of your hand!" Yes, when we "open the window of the heart", sunlight and fresh air will flow in, and the house will suddenly become brighter. "Accept others and treat others as yourself" is like opening your arms. The interpersonal relationship between you and me will be warm and peaceful, and the whole world will be in the palm of our hands! There is a proverb in Spain: "Mountains do not need to rely on mountains; but people need to rely on people." Yes, everyone needs friends. If you can "care for others", you can "win friendship." Therefore, let us learn to reduce "defensive communication" and adopt more "supportive communication"; and also ask ourselves: "Have you cared about anyone recently? Should we take the initiative to show concern?" In this way, when we walk at night, we will not be afraid of female ghosts.
