Spring is here (Alberta Times) Accompanied by the sonorous and powerful drums, the lion wakes up and takes the stage majestically. Stepping on the drums, blinking his eyes and wagging his tail. These performers are all in their seventies or eighties, which is unbelievable. The gongs and drums were beating louder and louder, and the lion dancers were dancing more vigorously. Amid the joyful sound of gongs and drums, a group of beauties appeared with light steps. They carried lanterns, dressed in red, with strong figures and classical and graceful dancing postures. Who else can "Beautiful Spring", the festive songs echo in the night sky one after another, and these energetic, energetic and confident old men and women open their voices, sing out the joy in their hearts, and spit out the enthusiasm in their chests. Sending everyone auspiciousness and a strong flavor of the New Year. There are many, many more, including Cantonese opera singers, Peking opera singers, lively and jumping girls, and Pang performing fast-paced dances. This is the wonderful life of the elderly people of the Fengcheng Chinese Senior Citizens Association. On March 13, they held a grand Spring Banquet at Luk Fook Seafood Restaurant and held the Jihu New Year Party. That night, more than 300 people attended. Leaders of various overseas Chinese groups were also invited to the banquet and spent a good time together. For a time, the door was full of guests, beaming with joy. There is a festive atmosphere everywhere. The Lion Dance Troupe, Dance Troupe, Mandarin Choir, Cantonese Choir, etc. of the Senior Citizens Association are naturally very happy and work hard. There is a more important reason for the people of the Senior Citizens Association to be happy. The Phoenix Chinese Senior Citizens Association has always been an advanced model unit in the country. Cui Zengqi, the current chairman of the Senior Citizens Association, made it clear in his welcome speech: "Our work goal is to unite the Chinese senior citizens, improve member welfare, and turn the Senior Citizens Association into a united and happy family." However, even such a place that is beneficial to the physical and mental health and happiness of the elderly is also facing the danger of losing government funding amid the current economic crisis across the country. Fortunately, after many requests from various parties, the funding for the Senior Citizens Association in the city government's budget was approved with only a 10% reduction. No wonder Mrs. Marshall, deputy director of the Department of Human Services of the Phoenix City Government, also said in her speech that this year is the most difficult year for the city government. Because she is aware of the public's demands, she still maintains the budget of the Senior Citizen Association. However, she has repeatedly warned everyone to keep a clear mind at all times and continue to work hard to make the Senior Citizen Association better. Although, she has always admired and been proud of the Chinese Senior Citizens Association. She even said that she must go to Chicago to get a certificate in the name of the Chinese Senior Citizens Association. At the meeting, Chairman Cui, Vice Chairman Deng Qingfen, and Vice Chairman Hu Qiao also expressed their heartfelt thanks to all members, overseas Chinese leaders, and government staff for their support and help. They expressed that they must work together to develop the Senior Citizens Association in accordance with the requirements of the new era and the needs of members. The conference also commended those who have made outstanding contributions to the Senior Citizens Association. They are: Deng Qingfen, Fan Qiancuiyue, Lin Yueying, Chen Xiurong, and Deng Qifei. The meeting awarded them service awards. The meeting also affirmed and praised the work achievements of Pei Xiayun, director of the Chinese Senior Citizens Association Center. He also expressed his gratitude to the sponsors. For example, senior overseas Chinese leader Yu Wenjin donated 200 yuan to them together with Mrs. Yu Wenyu, Mrs. Yu Wenwei and Yu Wenze to encourage the dance troupe of the Chinese Senior Citizens Association. I also wish them good health and more energetic music and dance. The spring breeze turns into rain and nurtures new people. Not only do the senior citizens live happily, they also attach great importance to the education of their children and grandchildren and are very concerned about the growth of the next generation. Another award at the conference is the award of scholarships to children with outstanding academic performance. A total of seven students received scholarships this time. They are: one first prize: Deng Litao; two second prizes: Wang Yingying and Jiamin Huang; two third prizes: Lou Qi and Kuang Ruiwen; and two nomination prizes: Katie Tam and Tyler Tang. The meeting reached its climax when all the new staff of the Senior Citizens Association in 2010 raised their glasses to wish everyone a happy New Year. The final raffle is the grand finale. It made everyone smile and burst into cheers again and again. All prizes come from donations from the overseas Chinese community, from restaurants to supermarkets, etc.
