>Zhang Zhaohong: Deep condolences and eternal remembrance. Ms. Wang Shuying, the president of "Asian American News", unfortunately passed away due to a car accident on August 13, 2011. When the bad news came, the Asian and Chinese communities in Alberta were deeply shocked. Many relatives and friends cried together and shed tears of grief! Friends from all walks of life expressed their condolences in different ways, and expressed their deepest condolences for the tragic death of Ms. Wang Shuying. Ms. Wang Shuying called me last Tuesday and said she would go to Los Angeles first and discuss art-related topics with me when she came back. Unexpectedly, something happened to her on the way back and we would never see her again! It’s unbelievable and very sad! Every Friday, when we go online and click on the website of the Asian American Newspaper, we will see the new full-page electronic version of the Asian American Newspaper on our computer, and there is not just one, but nearly 150 Asian American Newspapers that have been published online can be accessed, which is very convenient. The Asian American Newspaper is also the only registered member of the Arizona Asian and Chinese Newspaper Union in Arizona. In the downtown library, the Asian American Newspaper is a Chinese and English newspaper that can be archived. In other words, in a few years or decades, both the mainstream society and our descendants can access the historical materials and archives of the Asian and Chinese communities in the library. This is the forward-looking insight of Ms. Wang Shuying, the president of Asian American Newspaper, and her important contribution to our Asian and Chinese communities! I have known Ms. Wang Shuying for more than ten years. She majored in art and design. She knows computers and calligraphy. She has been engaged in education and editing and designing newspapers and magazines for a long time. In addition to running newspapers, she has also designed and edited a variety of magazines and enjoys a high reputation in the Asian and Chinese communities. In the past two years, she and I have gotten to know her better because we co-edited the National Day special issue of the Phoenix Overseas Chinese Federation. She is rigorous, keeps her word, is not quarrelsome, and is punctual and trustworthy. She treats her work enthusiastically, is serious and responsible, and has donated money and sponsored the National Day activities of the Overseas Chinese Federation. In the past two years, the special issue has been innovatively revised. We discussed the layout page by page and proofread the articles one by one. She is rich in experience, but she never rejects creative ideas. She is measured, but will not give up on the principles she should have. I am grateful for her trust in me. Regarding other people's requirements, I will first focus on them and then discuss them with her, which reduces duplication and improves efficiency. This year's beauty pageant of the Federation of Overseas Chinese is for the first time a combination of Chinese and Western styles. The special issue also breaks through the traditional design thinking in the past. She uses a romantic form to integrate colorful flowers and winged cherubs into the content and cover. Since printing is expensive, we try our best to pack representative content and photos into limited color pages. We designed and modified the content, form, fonts, and colors over and over again through emails, day and night, until the moment before printing. I was always moved by her serious and responsible attitude, and she also expressed our tacit understanding and pleasure in cooperating during the editing process. The National Day special issue of the past two years has become the annual publication of the Overseas Chinese Federation due to its meticulous and comprehensive editing, so it has been well received by everyone. Ms. Wang Shuying also had unhappy moments. During the editing period, I found that no one informed her to interview some overseas Chinese community events. She would rather be neither arrogant nor humble, and would not use the media in her hands as a tool to trade interests. This shows her rigorous professional ethics and noble personality. However, the subsequent losses may not only be the omission of reports of these events by newspapers and periodicals, but also the possibility that these relevant contents may be omitted when reviewing history in the future. I also saw Ms. Wang Shuying’s happy moment. After this year’s National Day special issue was completed, she happily told me that the printing manufacturer informed me that next year, the color page printing would be increased from the current eight pages to sixteen pages without increasing the price. If we are still responsible for the arrangement next year, the effect will be even more brilliant. Now that we are separated from Ms. Wang Shuying, I suddenly thought of the pair of little angels she designed in the special issue. She is very dedicated to weaving copyrights, and the little angels are her own original creations. I dare not infer what the appearance of the little angels means, but I believe that they will be able to escort Ms. Wang Shuying to that carefree and dispute-free state. Ms. Wang Shuying, have a good journey, we will miss you forever!
