Mr. Huang Shiwei’s English name is MANNY WONG, when I was still doing business in the 1970s and 1980s, I already knew Mr. Huang. At that time, he moved to Phoenix from California to run the INSURANCE business. Mr. Huang was amiable, humble and polite, and always smiled. Before his elder brother, he was well versed in Chinese and Western learning, and was proficient in Chinese, British, American, and Mexican languages. Therefore, he was very active in the overseas Chinese community and often helped many new immigrants who had difficulties with English. I remember that at a restaurant Christmas party in 1989, I introduced a new friend from the cultural industry to Mr. Huang. At that time, I suggested whether to open a Chinese newspaper in Phoenix. In fact, there were not many Chinese people in Phoenix at that time. Without the backstage support of a consortium or party, it would be like farming in the desert. It would be strange if it did not die. But they really got the license in one month. Soon after, their first Chinese newspaper called Arizona Chinese News was launched in Phoenix, but they opened a few In August, everyone suspended their support due to financial difficulties. Later, one founded the Alberta Times and the other founded the Asian American Newspaper in Chinese and English. It was not as a weekly newspaper said yesterday that the "Alberta Times was given to the Communists" and misled readers. There is no denying that Mr. Huang is indeed a pioneer in running Chinese-language newspapers in Arizona. Mr. Huang unfortunately contracted CANCER in his early years. After more than two years of treatment, all the doctors were helpless. Not only did he spend a lot of money, but he also suffered a lot of mental shock. MANNY received financial and spiritual support from various people, relatives and friends before and after his death. I believe MANNY is very grateful, and his family is also very grateful.
