Mrs. Yu Huang Ruiqin, a centenarian in Phoenix City, passed away (Alberta Times News) Mrs. Yu Huang Ruiqin (also known as Mrs. Yu Yongxiang) was born in Taishan County, Libian, and Nuoyangli, Guangdong Province. She was born on September 29, 1914. She died in a nursing home on May 1, 2012. She lived to be 100 years old. On February 3, 1930, she married Mr. Yu Yongxiang in the countryside. The couple was very affectionate and loved each other. Later, they had a son and a daughter, and the family was happy. In February 1948, Mrs. Yu and her family were allowed to immigrate to the United States and settled in Feini. From then on, the couple reunited, their family reunited, and they started a happy family. Mrs. Yu's husband, Mr. Yu Yongxiang, co-founded a large Western warehouse called Star Light. Mrs. Yu also assisted in the work in the store. She was diligent and frugal, treated customers well, and was skilled in management. The business was prosperous, and the wealth was abundant. Mrs. Yu is kind, loyal, peaceful, and has no disputes with others. She lived up to her duties as a woman at home, was diligent and thrifty in running the household, loved her children and grandchildren, lived in harmony with her subordinates, and was happy and harmonious. She was a good mother, a good grandmother, a harmonious family member, and indeed a typical good wife and mother. In addition to daily housework, Mrs. Yu also worked in the warehouse, helping both inside and outside. She was hardworking and capable. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, and growing melons and vegetables to share with relatives and friends during the harvest. Mrs. Yu was baptized in 1983 and became a devout Christian. God blessed her with a long life, full of children and grandchildren, and full blessings. Mrs. Yu’s funeral was held at 10 a.m. on May 12 at the Northwest Chinese Church. Pastor Huang Yaoan read scriptures. The funeral hall was filled with flowers. More than 300 relatives and friends attended the ceremony. She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery with utmost mourning. The filial piety family hosted a vegetarian meal at Luk Fook Restaurant to entertain relatives and friends attending the funeral to express their gratitude. (Contributed by literary agency)
