Phoenix City is like a rainbow: Treasure Island side trip No. 5: Kaohsiung’s scenic spots. After spending the night in the Shui Conservancy Village of Linbian Township, Pingtung County, my husband and I got up in the morning and went for a walk to breathe in the fresh air and feel extra clear-headed. An aunt who got up early to work nearby saw us with unfamiliar faces, looked around and asked if she was looking for any family. I smiled and waved, pointing to Yuping's house, saying that she was visiting her uncle and aunt from afar. The aunt smiled and expressed welcome. It seems that the folk customs in Pingtung are simple and full of human touch. Today is Tuesday, a normal working day. Adults have to work and children have to study. In order to accompany me and my wife, Yuping specially applied for two days of leave, arranged for her children to go to school, and then took her mother out to buy breakfast and come back to eat, and then started today's program. According to the plan of Yuping's uncle Cai Jun, after he had prepared and raised fish and shrimps in the early morning, he had free time to drive me and my wife to Kaohsiung for a sightseeing. Of course Yuping accompanied us, and Cai's Vietnamese bride also took this opportunity to accompany us, because we could all converse in Vietnamese. Going from Pingtung to Kaohsiung is just like the journey we took yesterday, passing through the Dapeng Bay Scenic Bridge. Cai Jun said yesterday that we would visit the Dapeng Bay Scenic Area today, but today he changed his mind and thought that the scenery in Kaohsiung is better and worth visiting. He only stayed here for a while to enjoy it, strolled on the beach, and looked at the vast sea and sky. In fact, this scenic spot has its own characteristics and is vast in scope, including the unique natural scenery of the lagoon, golf courses planned along the lake, mangrove ecological park, artificial beach, ship music museum, indoor marine amusement center, tourism and leisure center, etc. It will take time to browse in detail. Cai Junke is the driver and tour guide. Of course we listened to his advice and soon left Pingtung Dapeng Bay Scenic Area. The car drove towards Kaohsiung. In the distance, we saw the 85-story building, the East Texas International Plaza. The shape of the building resembles the word "high" and can be regarded as the landmark of Kaohsiung. When there was no 101 in Taipei, this was the tallest skyscraper in Taiwan. In 2006, my cousin He Shaoqing took me up to this building to view the scenery. She once went on a pilgrimage along the Love River and visited the Liuhe Night Market late at night. Kaohsiung's panoramic view left a good impression on me. This time, Cai Jun said that time was short and it was best to seize the opportunity to visit a few famous attractions instead of climbing high-rise buildings. It made sense, not to mention that I had already been to this building, and I had visited the Empire State Building in New York, the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, and Taipei 101. Now there was no need to spend time climbing up the stairs to overlook the city. So, Cai Jun took us to visit several places of interest in Kaohsiung to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We went to a buffet at noon and chose Yuping’s favorite restaurant. My cousin said that this restaurant has rich dishes, various styles, and is not expensive. It will make my uncle and aunt enjoy their meal and appreciate Kaohsiung’s delicious food. During the conversation, Cai Jun always thought that my stay in Pingtung was too short and I couldn't attend the wedding banquet he hosted on the weekend. It was a pity. Even if I went sightseeing in Kaohsiung, I couldn't appreciate the scenic spots in Kaohsiung. It was a pity that I came and went in a hurry. I can only say sorry, but I really don’t want to go through the trouble of asking the airline to change my return date to Vietnam. On this day in Kaohsiung, Cai Jun chose to visit several scenic spots. The first was the Ocean Park. Under the sunshine, he saw the grass next to the ocean, scattered with various shapes of sea creatures. They were all made of broken ceramic fragments, with shapes such as fish, shrimps, crabs, snails, etc. They were quite artistic, attracted tourists, and provided a good background for photography. Another place is to visit the "Consulate Official Residence Concept Pavilion". It is located on a hill. Cai Jun said that it used to be the former residence of the British consul. It has beautiful scenery and has become a popular tourist attraction. There is also the flag-back fort, which is also located on a higher slope. It was built during the Manchu and Qing Dynasties. It adopts a Western fort design and is matched with Chinese-style gates and walls to form a Chinese-Western style fortress. During the Sino-British Opium War, in order to strengthen defense, the Qing government supervised the construction of the "Megatron Tiannan" flag rear fort and the "Xiongzhen North Gate" port fort on both sides. They used medium and low artillery fire ranges to guard Dagou Port. The last place to visit is Zuoying Lotus Pond Scenic Area, Zuoying. A few days ago, Feng Shunhao suggested that I take the train and get off at this station and wait for my cousin’s daughter to welcome me back to Pingtung. If I had listened, I would have been able to visit this scenic spot first yesterday afternoon. Lotus Pond is located in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung, with Guishan Mountain to the south and Banping Mountain to the north. The lake is vast and it used to be the main water source that villagers relied on to irrigate farmland. Now it has become a well-known tourist attraction. The lake is surrounded by temples and monuments, and the combination of old and new buildings forms a tourist attraction that attracts many tourists. My favorite thing is to enjoy the beautiful scenery. I hold a video camera and keep filming and recording footage. The Lotus Pond Scenic Area is indeed dazzling. The unique artistic architecture of each temple, such as the Xuantian God in the North Pole Pavilion, the majesty holding a seven-star sword, the dragon and tiger in the Dragon and Tiger Tower, etc. complement the surrounding green space facilities, making tourists forget to leave. Kaohsiung has many beautiful scenery, but my time is limited, so I can only visit briefly before returning to Pingtung. According to the original plan, we will transfer to Chiayi tomorrow, return to Zhongli the day after, and then say goodbye to Taiwan.
