Senior overseas Chinese leader Mr. Yu Wenjin has recently discussed cooperation with the management of Greenwood Cemetery to sell cemeteries at preferential prices to Chinese people in the name of the Chinese Welfare Association. Dozens of overseas Chinese have benefited, saving tens of thousands of yuan in expenses such as longevity land and other expenses. On May 12, 85-year-old Mr. Yu Wenjin came to the Kangle Building early and brought some bottled water and desserts, waiting for overseas Chinese to come and go through the procedures for purchasing a cemetery. Also arriving early in the morning were Karla Gottry and other three staff members from the Greenwood Cemetery Company. Three consultants from the Chinese Welfare Association, including Deng Qingfen, Fang Huixian and Zhang Huafang, Welfare Association Chairman Zhang Zhaohong, Overseas Chinese Federation Director Brenda Fung, Situ Quan and Yu Fuqiang, etc. The Chinese Welfare Association published advertisements in various local newspapers in April to let the overseas Chinese know the news. In more than a month, Deng Qingfen and Fang Huixian have received dozens of inquiries and registration calls. From 9 a.m. to 12 noon, overseas Chinese who purchased Shoudi came in droves. They asked questions about Shoudi, materials, tombstones, etc. (Photo 1). The volunteers patiently explained the location and price of the cemetery, discounts on materials, tombstones, etc. (Photo 2), and provided translations to the overseas Chinese who did not speak English (Photo 3). They assisted the staff of the cemetery company to fill out the forms more conveniently, handle the payment procedures, etc., and also made the overseas Chinese understand that Buy with peace of mind.

Since Mr. Yu Wenjin opened the Chinese cemetery in 1992, the Chinese Welfare Association has contacted the cemetery company every three years to sell the cemetery at a relatively low price. In the past twenty years, it is roughly estimated that it has saved the overseas Chinese nearly 200,000 yuan. A total of 53 cemeteries were sold this time, as well as 20% off on materials, tombstones, etc., which saved overseas Chinese another 30,000 to 40,000 yuan. The results are also the best in recent years. Ed Steklenski, the director of Greenwood Cemetery Company, also came to the site for inspection. He was very happy to talk and take photos with Mr. Yu Wenjin and others (Photo 4). After the land sales work was completed, he took photos with employees and volunteers (Photo 5).

Graveyards are not like the ups and downs of real estate. Instead, the price of cemeteries increases every year, from the initial 495 yuan per lot to the current 3295 yuan, an increase of nearly 7 times. A few years later, it is not surprising that it has reached more than 4,000 yuan per lot. This time The preferential price of the cemetery is 2,695 yuan, and the combined purchase of 4 plots can be further reduced to 2,517 yuan each. The pre-ordering of 53 cemeteries and other accessories has saved the overseas Chinese tens of thousands of yuan. Cemetery companies generally only provide price discounts to living pre-orderers, and the purchased cemetery has the right to transfer. Purchasing a cemetery at a discounted price during your lifetime is actually a way to save money and preserve value. In addition, the Chinese cemetery in Greenwood Cemetery is also a limited land resource. In terms of liaising with the cemetery for preferential prices, the Chinese Welfare Association will continue to serve expatriates in the future.
