It is said that Governor Brewer will sign a bill next Monday that will make it legal for people to carry guns on the campuses of public universities and community colleges in Arizona. The proposal was passed by the state House of Representatives last week, passed the Senate without objection on Tuesday, and was submitted to the governor. Brewer is expected to sign it into a bill on Monday. The bill allows people with a firearms permit to bring weapons into campus buildings, including classrooms. The bill does not provide for a right of way, but supporters of the legislation say it would apply to streets and sidewalks near campus. The bill drew opposition from gun rights advocates and university officials.
