United Airlines cancels domestic baggage fee discounts Chicago-based United Continental Holdings Inc. has canceled its earlier offer of prepaid baggage fee discounts. This discount allows online prepayment (instead of paying at the airport counter) Passengers on domestic flights will save $2 on the first checked bag and $3 on the second checked bag. Starting from March 9, after the discount is eliminated, the first checked bag will be charged $25 and the second checked bag will be charged $35 regardless of when and where. The original discount was intended to encourage passengers to pay before arriving at the airport. Delta Air Lines Inc. still offers similar discounts, and other airlines such as American Airlines American Airlines has never offered differential prices. Southwest Airlines Co. is the most "generous" and continues to allow passengers to check in two bags for free.
