The Giffords shooting case has been put on hold indefinitely. Federal District Court Judge Burns ruled on the 25th that Loughner, the suspect in the Tucson shooting case, was mentally unfit to stand trial and put the case on hold indefinitely. This indiscriminate shooting led to Congresswoman Gabrielle. Giffords was shot in the head and seriously injured, but miraculously survived and is still recovering. Burns' ruling means the 21-year-old Loughner will be sent to a federal prison for four months while he waits to regain his mental capacity. During the court hearing on the 25th, Loughner was rambling at one point. He lowered his head and said, "Thank you for the freak exhibit. She died in front of me." Burns then ordered the bailiff to take Loughner away from the court. Loughner was later brought back to court. Burns told him he had a right to watch the hearing and asked if he would go to another room to watch, to which Loughner replied, "I want to watch the TV screen." Loughner has been held in a federal prison in Springfield, Missouri, for five weeks while two court-appointed psychiatrists examined him to determine whether he understood the ramifications of the lawsuit. However, the appraisal reports of the two experts have not been released.
