Horn blasts the Obama administration. Arizona Attorney General Tom Horn is very dissatisfied with President Obama, believing that the president is preventing his state from cracking down on illegal immigration. On Friday, the federal government issued a brief supporting the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit's decision to reject Arizona's Proposition 200, arguing that Proposition 200 violated federal law and that Alberta residents did not need to provide proof of citizenship when registering for elections. Proposition 200 was passed by Alberta voters in 2004. The main content is that residents of Vancouver must provide their driver's license, passport, birth certificate, tribal certificate or naturalization certificate number when registering as a state or federal elector. In the October Resolution, the appeals court ruled that Proposition 200 hindered the expansion of voting opportunities. Under federal law election standards (appropriate for any state), anyone applying to register as a voter declares themselves to be a citizen on the electoral registration form without having to produce identification documents. "First, the Obama administration failed to do its best job at the border, and then it sued Arizona to prevent us from cracking down on illegal immigration," Horn said. "Third, the federal government argued that the border was secure, and now it is preventing us from verifying citizenship, which is contrary to the interests of the American people." Arizona has successfully asked the court to review the Proposition 200 resolution, which is scheduled for June 21 in Pasadena, California.
