Visitors who have been to the Cheops Dam will definitely remember Rosie’s Den restaurant. A fire destroyed the landmark restaurant south of the Khufu Dam on Friday. Golden Valley consumer chief Osborne said the fire at Rosie’s Den started in the basement due to a short circuit in electrical wiring and quickly engulfed the 1930s building. He said the basement's original wooden walls contributed to the spread of the fire. Restaurant owner Rose Larson said she did not have fire insurance. She said volunteers are helping her clear rubble and donating money to help her rebuild. Chief Osborne said the restaurant was in ruins. The worst part is that the restaurant is not under the jurisdiction of any fire station. Fortunately, the adjacent gift shop was not affected.
