Flu arrives early, get vaccinated early (Alberta News) Maricopa County health officials confirmed that a child in the state died due to influenza. There have been three cases of influenza this summer, two of which involved adults. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, influenza is a year-round disease, and flu season generally runs from October to late May each year. But the flu is coming early in the state this year, and public health officials recommend that everyone get a flu shot early to prevent it from being needed. Due to patient privacy laws, specific details of the deceased children were not released. Officials said only that the child lived in Maricopa County. In general, doctors recommend that children over six months old and the elderly, as well as those who suffer from influenza all year round, get vaccinated. This year’s vaccine has already left the factory. Please contact your family doctor to get vaccinated, or call 602-324-2814 (Phoenix area) or 1-877-764-2670 (other areas of the state).
