Operation Thunder Police Dismantled Drug Cartel Last Thursday, in a joint operation involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security and Pinal County police, six men were arrested. Police believed that one of the 28-year-old Mexican suspects was the leader of a drug organization. The day's operation began in the early morning. Law enforcement officers armed with seven search warrants searched in Chandler, Mesa and other areas of Maricopa County, and found a total of 10 illegally collected firearms and two bulletproof vests. Police began investigating the drug syndicate in February. "There is every indication that this organization has been smuggling drugs between Mexico and Phoenix," said Matt, who led the operation. "This operation has exposed and dismantled this drug trafficking network." The six suspects will face Arizona and federal prosecutions for drug trafficking and concealed weapons.
