Meixin Zhao, the first Chinese-American female congresswoman in the history of the United States, held a dinner in San Gabriel, a city where Chinese people live in Southern California, on October 18th. She announced that she will run for re-election next year. She hopes to gain strong support from the Chinese-American community and can successfully change districts and be re-elected as a member of Congress in California's 27th district. 250 Chinese-American elected officials and community leaders attended the event that night. They expressed their support for Zhao Meixin's re-election and ensured the representation of Chinese-Americans in the U.S. Congress. California Representative Joseph Ng hosted the evening's event.
