United Blood Services and Thunderbird have partnered to encourage the public to donate blood this holiday season. "The Christmas and New Year period are typically the fewest weeks of the year for blood donors," a spokesman for the United Blood Services said. "If a major accident occurs during the holiday and the hospital is unable to supply blood, it is hard to imagine what the outcome will be." The United Blood Center has partnered with the Scottsdale Thunderbirds, which hosts the golf tournament, and from now until Friday, December 31, anyone who donates blood at any United Blood Services agency will receive a one-day ticket to the 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open (golf tournament). The blood donor center welcomes all types of blood donors, but the most in demand is type O negative, as this blood can be given to anyone with any blood type.
