Chicago: Parents accused of posting child abuse photos online (Alberta Times) Last week, a couple living in the northern part of the state were charged with child abuse after they tied up their two children with duct tape and took photos and posted the photos on Facebook for people to view. Cokeneno County police said the 2-year-old and 10-month-old children had duct tape tied around their wrists and ankles, and their mouths were taped shut. A child was hung upside down from a sports machine. The children's parents posted the photos on Facebook as a joke. A few weeks ago, a Chicago father was arrested for posting a photo of his daughter bound with tape on Facebook. Officer Cokenno said there was no evidence that the arrested parents were influenced by the Chicago father. "I think social media is becoming evidence in criminal and civil cases," said local defense attorney Jim Bellanger. "It can be used to assist investigations, but it's difficult to prosecute without any claimed photos or incidents where no one is responsible." Constable Cokenino said the two children were not physically injured. They are now with other family members. The couple remain in jail, where they each face two counts of child abuse.
