>A local school bus driver has been suspended for kicking a student off the bus miles away from home.
Twelve-year-old Eric Tory is a seventh-grader at Boulevard Middle School. After school last Wednesday, he stayed at school to review and had to take the last school bus.
The last bus came over at four o'clock. He got on the bus, only to find that the last bus didn't go to the place where he usually got off. The school bus driver dropped him off at Aire Libre Elementary School, a few miles from home. After little Eric begged the driver to take him to his usual drop-off location but was refused, he had no choice but to get out of the car, cross a pedestrian bridge across a busy intersection, and arrive at a stranger's house to ask for help. The homeowner told him to call his father and kept him inside the house until his father came to pick him up.
A spokesman for the school district said: "The daily route is fixed and we are investigating the matter in depth. We have suspended the driver involved. We are very happy that the student can go home safely."
Eric's father Kevin Tory said that he was glad that his son would ask for help when he was in trouble and would not allow his children to stay at school after school for a short time.
