Hydraulic failure, a US Airways flight returned to the airport (Alberta Times) On Monday afternoon, a US Airway flight from Phoenix to Washington, D.C., returned to the airport due to a hydraulic failure. A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration said the Airbus 320 arrived at the airport safely at 3:15 pm on Monday. It's unclear what caused the hydraulic failure. US Airways officials also did not comment on the emergency return. The plane was bound for Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, and authorities did not release how many passengers were on board.
