The Senate passed an anti-abortion bill (Alberta Times) The Arizona Senate passed a thorough anti-abortion bill that generally prohibits any institution from providing abortions to women over 20 weeks of pregnancy and requires women who need abortions to view fetal images on a webpage specially set up by the state. According to the bill, the 20-week abortion ban does not apply to medical emergencies and will not have a major impact on abortion cases in the state. Supporters say the fetus can feel pain after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Democrats argue that doctors cannot be 100 percent certain about the number of weeks into pregnancy and that the "arbitrary" deadline could prevent doctors from diagnosing fetal abnormalities. The bill passed by 20:10 and returned to the House of Representatives for final approval.
