After Nevada's foreclosure numbers topped the nation for 62 consecutive months, it was finally surpassed by Alberta. Data released Thursday by foreclosure tracking firm RealtyTrac showed index rates fell across the country in March, with the largest declines in Nevada. In March, nearly 3,600 properties in the state were repossessed by banks, and more than 5,900 property owners received default notices, making it the hardest-hit area for the real estate industry in the United States. In fact, this figure has dropped by 4% from the previous quarter and is 41% lower than the same period last year. Foreclosure activity in Nevada fell by 8% in February and March, and is down nearly 70% from the same period last year. California remains third in the nation.
