Department of Fish and Game reminds: Beware of coyotes (Alberta Times) Every summer, coyotes come to residential areas and homes in search of food and water. Although smart coyotes rarely attack humans, domestic cats, puppies, and birds at home are likely to become its delicacies. Families living by rivers, lakes, or near parks must pay attention. The hot summer sunshine often brings coyotes out of the desert and into densely populated urban areas. Keep an eye on your pets and put away bird feed when not in use. There is no need to panic when you encounter a coyote. You usually carry a rattle or a small hose with you that can blow loudly. The coyote will be frightened by the sound of the trumpet and will run away. Coyotes invading homes are not just an occurrence in Arizona. Similar incidents have occurred in every state except Hawaii. To put it bluntly, it is a matter of survival. Animals also have the right to survive, right?
