Tucson/Pima wages are high (Alberta Times) Want to make more money? You may consider applying for jobs in Tucson or Pima County. A recent survey conducted by Tucson Media found that annual salaries in the area are higher than the Arizona average. Last year, Tucson's 1,000th highest-paid hire earned $72,411, 37,000 more than the average Tucson worker. Meanwhile, Pima County has the 1,000th-highest annual salary of $63,258, making $28,000 more than the average resident. Compared to similar communities in the area, surveys show that wages in Tucson are higher than other areas. The city also has higher salaries for firefighters and police officers than elsewhere in the state. Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild said that if compared with other large and medium-sized cities outside the state for similar jobs, Tucson's salary level does not show an advantage. He said that the high salaries of many senior city employees are directly proportional to their high academic qualifications.
