Oil prices rise due to typhoon

Gas prices in the state have gradually climbed over the past month, by about a cent a day. The increase could increase during the upcoming Labor Day weekend. American Automobile Association blamed typhoons and instability in the Middle East for rising oil prices. AAA spokesperson Michelle Donati said the typhoon destabilized platforms at offshore oil fields, increasing production risks. As Typhoon Isaac approaches the Gulf Coast, several major refineries have halted operations as they prepare for strong winds and heavy rains. Gasoline prices rose in response. A fire at a refinery in California and trouble in the Middle East have added to the pain for oil prices. A Phoenix resident said that before the storm hit the shore, the price of oil in the valley had already risen. How to explain this? Gas prices in the state have increased 35 cents in the past month. There are currently only three states in the country with higher gas prices than Arizona.
