Newborn baby girl found in duffel bag outside apartment Authorities are searching for a mother who packed her newborn baby girl in a duffel bag and dumped it outside a Midtown Tucson apartment. According to local TV reports, around 8pm last Saturday, someone rang the doorbell of the apartment. The owner of the apartment opened the door and found a duffel bag containing a newborn baby girl, who was estimated to be no more than 4 to 6 days old. The Tucson Fire Department took over the scene and medical staff confirmed that the baby was in good health and has been handed over to the state Child Protection Center. Police said Monday they did not know the identity of the baby's mother or whether she needed medical attention.
