China News Service, November 7.

The counting of votes on the voting day of the US election was almost completed as of the evening of the 6th local time. The latest results show that Obama currently received 274 votes, defeating his opponent Romney, and his re-election as president is a foregone conclusion.

In several major swing states, Obama won the votes of Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and other states, while Romney won the votes of North Carolina and other states. The latest results showed that Obama received 274 votes and Romney received 203.

At around 2 pm Beijing time, the US election will release preliminary exit polls to confirm who wins the current presidential election. Romney and Obama will attend voting day rallies at their respective campaign headquarters in Boston and Chicago that evening, awaiting preliminary results. Regardless of victory or defeat, Obama will deliver a speech in Chicago, Illinois, where the Democratic Party's campaign headquarters is located.

Romney previously said that his 2012 election campaign was not perfect, but he had no regrets. So far, he has only written a 1,118-word victory speech and has not prepared a defeat speech. But Obama said he prepared two manuscripts because "you can't take everything for granted."

After the referendum day on November 6, this year’s Electoral College vote will be held on December 17. Electors cast their votes in their state capital. Normally, Electoral College votes are just routine.

The presidential inauguration is the final step in the U.S. presidential election. The president-elect will be sworn in at the presidential inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2013, marking the final conclusion of the U.S. presidential election process.
