Beautiful Men’s Dream Cities: Three Cities in the Western United States Reach the Top “Alberta Times” According to Men’s Health magazine, for American men seeking happiness, health and good quality of life, Boise in Idaho, San Jose in Northern California and San Francisco may be the promised land of their dreams. These three Western American cities ranked in the top three in Men’s Health’s list of the top 100 cities for men to live in. Charleston, West Virginia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Birmingham, Alabama, were the least suitable places for men to live. San Francisco, which ranks among the top cities every year, impresses with its low obesity rate, small smoking population, high educational level and generally healthy residents. San Jose has extremely low cancer and heart disease mortality rates, the lowest smoker rate among the 100 cities rated, and a low crime rate. Birmingham ranks last due to high cancer rates, high violent crime rates and poor health. The bottom five cities are Birmingham, Philadelphia, Charleston, Toledo, Ohio, and St. Louis, Missouri. Only two major cities in Arizona made the list, with Phoenix at 37th, Tucson at 45th, New York at 33rd, and Los Angeles at 47th.
