Three federal ministries jointly develop energy in Alberta. Recently, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy issued a joint statement announcing that they will jointly develop the Navajo Power Station in the northern part of the state. In the statement, the three federal agencies said they will work together to bring "clean, affordable, reliable power supply, affordable and sustainable water supply, and economic development to the region." The Navajo Generating Station is located on the Navajo Nation Autonomous Reservation 12 miles away from the Grand Canyon National Park. It has a history of 40 years and is under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Reclamation of the Interior Department. It has historically supplied power to the state, California and Nevada.
