Abnormal climate: frost on the west coast and warm on the east coast. The National Weather Service said that temperatures across the country have become bipolar. Frost warnings were issued in southern and central California and Arizona, with local temperatures dipping below zero degrees Celsius. In Atlanta, some residents wore shorts and shorts in the mild weather as Georgia experienced unseasonably high temperatures. Orchards and farmland along the West Coast and in southern California are scrambling to harvest crops and avoid catastrophic frost damage. The Los Angeles Basin and parts of San Diego are experiencing rare cold temperatures up to 20 degrees Fahrenheit below normal, which could lead to higher prices for fruits and vegetables across the country. In Southern California, some orchards are worried that the harvest isn't happening fast enough. According to CBS News, grower Ben Taft said that he only had time to harvest 30% of the oranges before the temperature dropped. In the next few days, if there is still sub-zero low temperature weather, he will lose 70% of the harvest.
