This phase of the project plans to use US$300 million to build three stations, which will be opened to traffic in early 2016. The three stations, Glendale, Northern and Dunlap, will be approximately 3.2 miles long, all on 19th Avenue, and are expected to add 5,000 passengers per day. Another light rail extension project, a 3-mile, four-station extension in Mesa City, began in the summer of 2012 and will open to traffic in early 2016.
