After the tuition price is frozen this academic year, the fall tuition of Arizona State University (ASU) and the University of Arizona (UA) will increase by 3%. ASU's president released a tuition plan that will be discussed and voted on in early April. There are no fee recommendations for undocumented students in this plan. The UA Staff Congress voted in favor of the ASU president's proposal: illegal students would have to pay out-of-state tuition, which is more than double the tuition for in-state students. ASU President Mike suggested that freshmen receive an annual increase of $276, which would result in an extra income of nearly $10,000 per year. UA's president proposed an increase of $356. Annual revenue increase of $10,391. NAU's president recommends a 5% increase for new students, or $467. Officials say the increase in tuition is necessary to continue to provide high-quality education and better serve a large number of students. This tuition increase is the smallest in the past decade.
