For the first time, the Pentagon report targets the Chinese government directly. On Monday, in its annual report, the Pentagon directly accused the Chinese government and military for the first time of launching a cyberattack war against the United States and attempting to steal federal agency information. Unlike in the past, the Department of Defense specifically pointed out in its report on the Chinese military that China hired relevant experts to launch a secret cyber attack war against the United States. In fact, over the past year or so, the U.S. government and some cybersecurity experts have been escalating their accusations against the Chinese government in this regard. In February this year, the American cybersecurity company Mandiant released a report directly pointing the source of hacker attacks to Chinese officials. In its 60-page report, it exposed the specific details of Chinese military hackers’ attacks on 141 companies, most of which are located in the United States. Since January, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Twitter have all reported that they have suffered cyber security attacks, and they suspect that the source of the attacks may be the Chinese government. The report stated that it hopes to have a more open and transparent dialogue with the Chinese government on cybersecurity topics.
