A Tucson woman died in her car after her car was swept away by floods. The single-day rainfall in Phoenix on Monday broke the record set in 1895. More rain is forecast Monday night and Tuesday morning. According to Phoenix International Airport records, 3.29 inches of rain fell that day, breaking the airport's historical record of 2.91 inches in 1933. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for much of the metropolitan area and northern Phoenix that day, with up to 8 inches of rain falling in some mountainous areas along Interstate 17.
