According to CNN, the Arizona police said on the 27th local time that a new police officer in Flagstaff, Arizona, was shot and died while responding to a domestic violence incident.

Arizona police said the person killed was 24-year-old rookie police officer Tyler Stewart. Police said Stuart was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the hospital.

The police also said that the gunman who shot Stuart committed suicide.

The police press conference announced that the gunman who shot Stuart was a suspect in a domestic violence case. Stuart was shot when he tried to make contact with the man.

The police did not release other details.

According to the website of the American Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Foundation, Stuart was the 125th American police officer killed in the line of duty in 2014.
