(Century New Energy Network) US public utility UniSource Energy Services (UES) is expanding its solar photovoltaic and wind project in Wilcox, Arizona, which will double its renewable energy generation capacity.

>The 37MW "Red Horse" project will be completed this month and will provide enough solar power for more than 7,500 households.

This project is UES's largest single renewable energy resource project so far, with the total capacity of its owned or leased renewable energy systems reaching 66MW.

The ownership and operation rights of the "Red Tuma" project belong to Houston-based Torch Renewable Energy, which sells the power to UES.

Since August 2015, the project has been providing wind and solar power to customers of UES's sister company Tucson Electric Power (TEP) in its early stages.

The entire "Red Tuma" project produces 101MW of solar and wind power for UES and TEP, which can meet the electricity needs of more than 21,000 households. The project includes 100,000 solar panels and covers an area of 200 acres.

With the completion of this project, approximately 12% of UES's energy will come from renewable energy.
