Obama has been elected "the most admired man in America" for ten consecutive years China News Service, December 28...
A poll showed that 17% of Americans said Obama is the person they admire most. Current US President Trump received 14% of the vote, ranking second. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was voted the most respected woman by 9%, ranking first, followed by former First Lady Michelle Obama with only a 2% gap.
According to Gallup News, this year is “Hillary’s 16th consecutive year as the most admired woman.” She has won this title 22 times, more than any other woman. The only man who has been elected more times than Obama is former President Eisenhower, who was elected 12 times.
Since 1946, every year except 1976, Gallup has asked the American people to choose the men and women they most admire. A total of 58 sitting presidents have won this title. Among them, the sitting presidents who did not rank first include Truman (1946-1947, 1950-1952), Johnson (1967-1968), Nixon (1973), Ford (1974-1975), Carter (1980) and Bush Sr. (2008).
Gallup News also wrote that except for Trump, Truman (1947) and Ford (1974) who have received job approval ratings below 50%, all current presidents have job approval ratings above 50%.
To complete this year's poll, Gallup conducted random telephone interviews with 1,049 people over the age of 18 between December 4 and 11. Respondents were located in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Among those who participated in the poll, 1/4 did not choose the man/woman they admired most.
